Mystic has gained fame for its relationship with the sea, so opening a waterside restaurant to capitalize on that connection seems like a recipe for success. …tucked away on the water alongside Seaport Marine, Kanabis has opened Red 36, named for the red buoy that marks the starboard side of the channel when approached from the sea.

Oh, say can you see? The river? You’re on it. A huge whitewashed clapboard building? You can’t miss it. The stars and stripes hang from the rafters. You’re inside a stunning new restaurant called Red 36 at Seaport Marine on Washington Street in Mystic.

If there were a navigational marker in the Mystic River named RED36, it would be located right across from the newly opened restaurant that bears that name. Since opening in late June, the 150-seat restaurant at Seaport Marine that overlooks the Mystic River has been drawing crowds.

It’s about time Mystic has another option for waterfront dining. Woohoo! Red 36 It has a Newport, RI kind of feel, however it’s just off the beaten path of Downtown Mystic. The views are gorgeous and the overall design is modern yet comfortable and absolutely immaculate.
